Area of Interest

Dr. Dickerson is the Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry at the Larner College of Medicine; he oversees the psychiatry clerkship and other psychiatry-related course work for medical students.  His interest in medical education also encompasses teaching in the College’s Professionalism, Communication, & Reflection and Medical Neuroscience courses; he also supervises the Psychiatry Student Interest Group. Over the past handful of years, Dr. Dickerson has also taught UVM undergraduates in his ‘Sex, Love, and the Neuroscience of Relationships’ course.  Teaching allows Dr. Dickerson to creatively share his interests in pop culture, medical humanities, mental health stigma, social neuroscience, and the role of connectedness in fostering wellness.

Clinically, Dr. Dickerson is the director of the VCCYF’s Autism Assessment Clinic, the only University-affiliated multidisciplinary diagnostic clinic in the State of Vermont for children suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder.   He also provides outpatient care for gender-variant and transgender youth and their families.

While they enjoy traveling frequently, Dr. Dickerson and his family are grateful to be able to unwind in the natural beauty of Vermont and on the shore of Lake Champlain.
