2009-2014 Accuracy of Breast Pathology and the Impact of Technology & Double Reading. Co-
investigator working with principal investigators, Drs. Donald Weaver (UVM) and
Joann Elmore (University of Washington). We are evaluating the extent of variability of
pathologists’ diagnosis of breast cancer, its sources and its impact on women undergoing
breast biopsy. In addition we will evaluate possible techniques to improve accuracy,
such as digital transmission of slide images and double reading. National Cancer

2010-2011 Journey Forward Cancer Care Plans in the Rural Northeast. Principal Investigator of a
study through the Dartmouth Institute for Health Care Policy and Clinical Practice that
tested the feasibility of delivering cancer care plans for breast cancer and colorectal
cancer survivors. We measured the impact of the cancer care plans on the patient,
primary care provider and oncology staff. 10/10-9/11, CDC, $221,000.
2009-2011 Improving Breast Cancer Outcomes for Older Women Through Effective Use
of Screening Mammography. Co-investigator with Pamela Vacek, Ph.D., as
principal investigator. We studied the relationship of co-morbidity, treatment
