Academic Interests

My activities encompass administration, teaching and patient care.  I serve as Chief of the Division of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology, which is part of the Department of Medicine and Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont (UVM), and I am responsible for the clinical practice and academic mission of the division.  I have extensive experience in teaching medical students, interns, residents and fellows since 1993.  I enjoy teaching, and as Fellowship Program Director, I am responsible for running the fellowship training program at UVM.  I have also been involved in numerous activities pertaining to education for medical students (including development of the rheumatology curriculum for the UVM medical school “Vermont Integrated Curriculum”), interns, residents, fellows and attending practitioners in Vermont, at a national level as part of several American College of Rheumatology committees and subcommittees, and as a member of the committee writing the rheumatology portion of the American College of Physicians publication, the Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP) 17 and MKSAP 18.  I have a large, active clinical practice caring for patients with rheumatic diseases in the outpatient clinic and inpatient wards at The University of Vermont Medical Center.
